Laurie from Orlando asks: How often do you need to replace your brakes?

Laurie, thanks for the question and congratulations on winning the oil change. We will be mailing you the oil change certificate good for one free oil change at any of the 21 Tuffy Tire and Auto locations in Central Florida.

We covered some of this in our Auto Safety Blog #1: Brake for Safety. The braking system is friction based. When you step on the brake pedal, the brake pads press into the brake rotor to slow or stop the wheels from spinning. It is extremely hard to give a life estimate for the friction material on the brake pads since every driver drives and brakes differently. Your brakes may last longer if most of your driving is on the highway instead of in the city (unless the highway driving is always in rush hour).

The manufacturers recommend that you get your brakes inspected every 12 months or 12,000 miles to make sure they are safe and effective. Since brakes are important for auto safety, the Tuffy Orlando stores offer free brake inspections. Give us a call to make an appointment or make an online appointment here.
